Look Without SeeingA Chapter by ArchiaHe helped the woman to her feet. She mumbled a thank you.
Both continued on their way. They never saw each other again. From time to time, their thoughts drifted back to that
day when the rain had poured down, and she had laid upon herself the weekly
groceries. The moment their eyes had
met. The moment their hearts touched. They moment they left it to fate, and
fate had not been watching. On her wedding day she thought of him. On his wedding day
he thought of her. They were both wishing the other luck. He grew old, clutched in the hands of his wife. But every
time he walked down that street he thought of her. She had started taking the
bus. She began to go blind at a young age, her sight leaving
her slowly. Later on his eyes grew murky, it was a family trait they told him. Blackness
took him eventually. It was a rainy day when they met on the street, both
hooked in their spouse’s’ arms. They recognised the other’s voice. They smiled,
shook hands. “We’ll be late.” Her husband tried to pull her along. She stopped him. “It doesn’t matter.” His wife was looking at the curiously, glancing between the
woman and man. She pulled the woman’s husband to the side, whispered something
to him. They left the brother and sister alone for a moment. © 2012 ArchiaReviews
