Twilight of Trust

Twilight of Trust

A Poem by Archishman Rick

Do you wish to truly deceive,
The source from which you still receive,
You have found yourself caught in between,
The urge to savour this rousing moment,
And the longing to escape the lament.

Rage flaming within lunges to bind,
To forced clarity for false peace of mind,
Leaving silhouettes of fragmented trust,
Each fragment with denial of its own,
That darkens the winding route leading home.

The sanity you fear to have been lost,
Is still insured by earnest fingers crossed,
Carried by easy winds on to fresher climes,
Until soft rains arrive to cool your strain,
Leaving just the weight of truth to remain.

The words "a riddle, wrapped in an enigma" comes to mind, and speaks of our inability to only want one thing and not everything all at once.
I want a cake, but don't want to put on weight, so I'll deal with that later, after I enjoy my cake!
Did we ever have that sanity to begin with?
A really enjoyable write.

Broken trust denies us of true friendship; we become disappointed and distrustful in many relationships. You describe all of that marvelously. It is a strain as you say.

Your title says it all and your poem speaks to human dilemmas-the escape and the sorrow and choices we make. Trust doesn’t come easy. Your last line is a hard truth. I like how you used and placed certain words to draw the picture.. ‘still insured by earnest fingers crossed’ makes one think. Well written.

Trust doesn’t come easy. It has to be earned. And should it become broken, it is mighty difficult to repair if at all. Is it worth the risk I ask? Your stanzas, well penned my friend.

you are indeed welcome :)
This one seems to deal with our human predicament. We are conflicted by the desire to enjoy the physical life while avoiding its pains. This of course is not possible. Our trust cannot help but be fragmented, but if we learn not to resist this process, it can lead us to greater heights.

Great poem and style. You write marvelously. You have shed a good light on the subject of trust. It is not easy to trust something or someone. Like you say, you have to weigh things properly. You have to gain trust as they say.
