Elemental Word

Elemental Word

A Poem by Archishman Rick

With the spirit of honour to inculcate,
Here sparks this urge to articulate,
The worthy message wanting to be said,
With the deific gust that roars overhead.

The foundation that set us down to earth,
Helped us realize the ground's worth,
For only there could we first praise the sky,
And cherish the dreams of soaring high.

Roots firm, we adapt to the leaves that fall,
To stand our ground and evolve in might,
Hear the rogue maelstrom's uprooting call,
And yet represent the better fight.

On our intact base allies would still meet,
In each era anxious eyes foresee,
Destiny through a journey bittersweet,
Where you and I can be truly free.

We can never grow or evolve without roots to bind us to our land and laying a foundation to build on who we truly are, while nature gives us everything we need for sustenance and we realise it is worth fighting for to hold on to.
The elements of the title: earth, air, fire and water give us our all and make it a place worth fighting for, for freedom to be who we truly are.

Title, poem and message are worthy. Positively inspirational and and willfully operational.

You are welcome 😊
Excellent structure and subject. I agree with Chris the feel of a Rupert Brooke or a Wilfred Owen.

Poets have always held a special place during times of conflict. I am reminded here of the many war poets of the first and second world wars. They too have a place in history. Third stanza is excellent. A fine piece of writing. Well done.

This one sounds like a poet's credo of sorts. It is almost as though poets are on a special mission to speak "The Elemental Word," like the prophets of old. It will not be an easy venture, but the speakers of the word must stand firm and say what they need to say. From that fortitude will spring forth freedom.
