With the RemainsA Poem by Archishman RickLyrical piece. A sequel to 'Battle Trail'. Consists of two verses, followed by one chorus, again two verses, one chorus.
I make my way back from war,
Fought in a different kind, For worthy children to solve, I left some clues behind. I look the way back at loss, Under the promise of gain, Raring visages are gone, Only their wills remain. As the last light fades, The dusk is dreary. The metaphor remains, As I grow weary. As your last smile fades, Under what darkens, I still see all the shades, Of our exuberance. The path ahead stays the same, Though the route is drawn again, Kids on the shore play new games, While old ambitions remain. A patch of magenta sky, Looms over far off terrain, I long for your old smile, Before the battles again. As the last light tells, A bright old story, The metaphor still dwells, To ease my worry. As a wistful smile, Runs over my face, I sit and watch awhile, Approaching new waves. © 2023 Archishman Rick |
