Cassie

A poem dedicated to Cassie Bernall, a modern martyr. If you have never heard of her, look her up(along with the book based on her story, 'She Said Yes'). There's a lesson behind her story, as well as this poem.

 

A modern martyr in every right

No longer tempted by the wicked

Of day and night

 

Cassie lives on with her father and friends

Cassie whispers to us all, time and time again

 

“Stand up for what you believe in,

Never back down,

and one day

our loving father will bestow upon you his priceless gift of immortality;

just like he did for me.”

 

Just like he did for Cassie.
