Another Unsettled Heart

Another Unsettled Heart

A Poem by Emma Raether
"

A poem inspired by a conversation with my most recent ex. Although it was nice talking to him, there was unresolved questions and tensions, seemingly only inside myself...

"

Isn’t it nice, how we can talk to each other again?
I used to call you lover, but instead I call you friend

Isn’t it nice hearing us laugh again?
Instead of yelling at each other, at some forgotten fiend

Isn’t it nice now, knowing we’re both at peace?
I still loved you but I could tell you were aching to be released

Isn’t it nice to think I loved you enough to let go?
You saw me withering away right under your nose
And you did nothing.

Isn't it nice, too be forgiven without apologizing?
Perhaps I am the fool, for not realizing
That underneath, there no was more to show
Than another broken pendulum, another unsettled heart.

Author's Note

Emma Raether
fiend is pronounced fee-end not feend. I don't know how to change it to appear so.

Also, I didn't draw the picture, I swear. I just found it online :)

This work starts off so strong. I read it and know I am reading the work of talent. yet the ending sorta fell apart. I truly did not know what you were trying to convey at the very end. This is one thing that I thought of when I read...I hope this is not totally making you mad...

Isn't it nice now, knowing we're both at peace
I still love you but I could tell you weren't happy anymore

Isn't it nice now, knowing we're both at peace
I still love you but I could tell you were aching to be released.

The poem is off to a good start, and that is great since you clearly have the talent to bring the end on home. Thanks for sharing, t.
