My Fantasy

My Fantasy

A Poem by Emma Raether
"

One of my favorites, what I believe to be the finest of my early poems. My Fantasy was based off of my love for a boy in middle school, and it is the only one of my poems to be published in a newspaper.

"

My fantasy is a land

A lush beautiful land with a never ending sea

A lush beautiful land with just you and me

My fantasy is a drive in

With my favorite movie playing

And we’re the only ones saying

I love you

My fantasy is an ocean

An ocean filled with happiness

An ocean filled with peace

An ocean with no stress

Just go with the flow,

And you know

Everything will be okay

My fantasy is a desert

A dry desert with an oasis

Oh, how you quench me

My life is dry

No hope

But seeing your beautiful face

Helps me cope

With the day’s heat

My fantasy is my place

My place I call my own

My place where I go

When the world mocks me

It laughs

It scorns

It tugs at a heart already torn

It pushes me when I’m already down

So I go to the happy place I have found

My fantasy is beautiful

My fantasy is everywhere

My fantasy is right next to me

My fantasy is you

My fantasy is just a daydream

But dreams can come true

Life is cruel

But are you?

I think the repetition is part of why this poem flowed really well. I like the different lengths of the stanzas (normally this could make the poem awkward but with this poem it only made it more unique :) I also liked how you asked a question at the end. Great write!

Wow, I really liked this. It's a little simplistic, but I think that helps the poem along, and I love how you ended it. Great work!
