Living For

Living For

A Poem by arcandon

Remember when we used to be new

and snow would prick out and sting on the metal bars

and our lips would tie knots under the last bright star

everything was simple and felt possible and far

the timing tragic and tender but knows who we are

it knows you your name because it chose you without shame

you have nothing to worry about I know that now

it’s criminal to think this will never continue

there’s a road and a path and a breath and a lap

it comes from deep within you

and it won’t step aside

I won’t let it contain you

or force you out if you want to hide

but i’m here for you and God as my armor

i don’t know what to do

now i’m loosening my grip and my fears have all evaporated

up into the orient pelt

your understanding is vital

your presence in my life

will always be felt
