Forever

Forever

A Poem by Lydia Thacker

Often, I wake and search for you.
My arms, feeling empty and barren,
Long to feel your tender weight cradled in them.
I miss your head nestled against my shoulder
And your soft breath in my ear, lulling me to sleep.

I remember the feel of you,
The smell of you,
The taste of your kisses
 - sticky and sweet like your small lips.
But, sometimes, I wonder
If you aren't a dream...
The only one I ever had worth keeping,
The dream that makes me wish
I could sleep forever...
