Stranger's KissA Poem by Opeyemi Jide-OjoThis is the stranger I’d love to kiss, Of the delightsome order of
daylight- Cycles of birth and dawn And all the finest definitions of
her royal estate, pretty stranger, And
all the memories and fantasies she evokes- My mind was once kept to her will, My desires bound to her every
movement. And I became my dream, Or
my dream became me, We became one, Lost in the beauty of this
fantasy- Let the dreams speak for itself- For
the dreams are one, and they’ve Attached themselves to the figure
of me, Wrapping themselves around my mind
such that They are the body of my thoughts, They
give my dreams spirit. I wish for the stranger’s kiss, And she may be no stranger- She’s in me, already me, And I
might know the stranger all too well, Perfect image of my prayer for
redemption, And my hope for life itself- Still I wish for the stranger’s
kiss And the life it
holds for me, Bringing all my dreams to the
surface As I get closer to that door- Only if I can get to the door, Then I
can wake to the end of a dream And the start of another- I’ll wake to meet my stranger’s
kiss, Or my stranger will come to my dreams… © 2013 Opeyemi Jide-Ojo |
