Dance with the nightA Poem by Opeyemi Jide-OjoThis poem is dedicated to Frieda P, inspired by her "Dances on a cloud"I dance the dance of the ages Eternity weaving its way down through the veins that define me, And I all but forget everything- The silence is loudly soothing, Like caressing feathers, And I have all my wishes kept in the safe solitude of the night, For I look forward to the night- Where I might dance with the clouds and skip with the stars, To listen as they tell their stories from belts far far away, Losing me in fantasy, loosing me in redemption, And I taste freedom for the first time truly In that sacred dance of the ages- And I might bid the sun not come for many hours yet, Please let me drink in the beauty of the night, Please let me drink in the beauty of the night, Please let me drink in the beauty of the night, While I dance the dance of the ages...
