What This Does To MeA Poem by DravenHello again, old friend. I think it no coincidence that I stumbled across your path after all these years have passed without a word between us. I heard you have a lover now. Somehow he snared you while I was away. And although it crushes the very foundation of my heart I'll hold it in without a single tear, for I know you're happy.
Old friend, I wish you could see just what this does to me, but I won't let you for what it might do to you. I'll let it go and hope I survive. This bridge between us is burning, and I don't know what to do.... I'm not surprised that you found love - you've always been so beautiful - but all this time I imagined it would be me by your side. I see that I am too late.
Old friend, I cannot take this burning in my chest, the bleeding of my pride, the tearing of my eyes. I feel inside these things for you and they are but a waste. While you grow in love I detiriorate in life in mind. I can't leave this behind me, but I guess that's just how it is. It's never going to change. I just get so tired of hurting here and feeling my heart break. There is nothing I can do. If I leave I bleed, yet with you I'm hurting still. There is no substitute. There is none other like you. © 2013 DravenAuthor's Note
