Munchkin Princess

for my niece

Pretty pajama princess

so innocent and sweet

you captivate and charm

every person that you meet…..

 

The little twinkle in your eyes

sparkles straight to the core

the love you give so freely

I’ve never known before…..

 

Secrets shared in bursts of giggles

you’ll look at me and say

Aunt April, which one of the princesses

shall we pretend to be today?

 

Sparkly tiaras and painted toes

singing silly songs with delight

we’ll dance to our own made up tunes

then snuggle through the night…...

 

Your kisses soothing magic

flutter like angel’s wings

carried by a heart so pure

sweet, young sassy thing…..

 

My petite little munchkin

so giving and carefree

my universe a better place

cuz you’re the world to me…….

Impossible to read (and not listen to) and not smile...this is such a delightful little piece April...well actually it's not little, it's a gorgeously-crafted work that is as gentle as a lullaby...it totally fits your style...your two most unmistakable trademarks are alliteration and flow, and they really drive home the sweetness and innocence in this one...actually I would add your knack for rhyme to that list now too, which gets better with every poem...if your heart is not warmed by this piece, you don't have one...dreadfully cute yet astoundingly captivating...another winner my friend :)

Haha There is absolutely nothing wrong with trademarks...people cringe when I tell them they have trademarks, I don't know why...I think every writer needs one at least...they define us and our work, and make us unique...funny thing is, I don't think I have any myself...if I do, they are not obvious to me haha ;P
