Spirit of Empathy

Spirit of Empathy

A Poem by April Blue
"

I asked my friends to give me ten words in order to make a poem using those ten words. These are the ten words that were given to me:Covid, Tunnel, lizard, Hear, River, Chain, seven, touch, tar, nestle

"
Woe to the Covid deaths.
Woe to the liars in cathedrals.
Woe to all the sacrifices made.
That could have been.
If only prevented.
But shall never be forgotten.
The world is ablaze with conspiracies.
That has forever taken countless innocent lives.
Can we prevent further death?
With but one touch of humanity?
And a spirit of empathy?
Deep dark tunnels with no light in sight.
Hear the rivers cry as political chains keep us captive.
Thick eyesight not seeing through tar like lies.
Deception thinking lizards live among us.
Lord, we try to find the nestle of your love.
In these dark perilous times.
Filled with such agony and despair.
Sevenfold is our trepidation.
Hear us, love us but never pity us.

With sufficient empathy, and true spirit of humanity; perhaps many Covid deaths could have been prevented. Particularly, if more people had found spiritual solace; "Lord, we try to find the nestle of your love".

Conspiracy theories, did more harm than good; likely to have just added more chaos and confusion to life - during that dark and turbulent Covid era.

Clearly, politicians on both sides of the political spectrum; exploited this global crisis for their own ends. So, "a plague on both their houses"; so to speak..?

Thanks, for sharing.

It is quite disturbing that in this day and age of technology and vast information at our fingertips there is a segment of the world that still falls for propaganda and disinformation. They revel in their blissful ignorance as if it were a virtue to be so incurious. To be fed day after day lies and to consume it in their primitive minds until it becomes truth as they see it, or an alternative fact. These are the same people who spout moral superiority while lacking it themselves. Hiding their ignorance behind the ideas of freedom and patriotism when denying these same rights to others, because let's be honest they're bigots. And in the end that is what all of this comes down to...hate. Thank you for sharing your poem.
