Spirit of EmpathyA Poem by April BlueI asked my friends to give me ten words in order to make a poem using those ten words. These are the ten words that were given to me:Covid, Tunnel, lizard, Hear, River, Chain, seven, touch, tar, nestle
Woe to the Covid deaths.
Woe to the liars in cathedrals. Woe to all the sacrifices made. That could have been. If only prevented. But shall never be forgotten. The world is ablaze with conspiracies. That has forever taken countless innocent lives. Can we prevent further death? With but one touch of humanity? And a spirit of empathy? Deep dark tunnels with no light in sight. Hear the rivers cry as political chains keep us captive. Thick eyesight not seeing through tar like lies. Deception thinking lizards live among us. Lord, we try to find the nestle of your love. In these dark perilous times. Filled with such agony and despair. Sevenfold is our trepidation. Hear us, love us but never pity us.
