Love at First Sight

Love at First Sight

A Poem by April Child

It was just a day like any other,

Monday 3rd of November.

I took the train to Brighton

and there, at the station,

your eyes, face, mouth.

Something unknowable

enveloped us as our

internal computers

compared DNA and

we were caught

in a flurry of

imperceptible code.

My old life, like

a scuffed shoe,

had it’s stiletto heel

stuck in a drain

and I stepped

from it without

looking back.

wow. some amazing images here.

"we were caught
in a flurry of
imperceptible code." - love the way this tripped off my tongue as i read it. i love using technical non-feeling metaphors to explain deep human connection and you do so perfectly.

also love the stiletto heel stuck in a drain... very effective. sometimes we wonder why we didn't leave the old pair of shoes earlier.

I read your poetry in such delight, you know how to capture a moment and through me into it, so easy to dive in, your most intimate memories :-) Love it, Yossi
