Pebble of Peace

Pebble of Peace

A Poem by April Child
"

A humble gift. It's the little things...

"

If I could bring you anything

it would be a pebble

small enough to fit your palm

the hue of evening’s dusky skies

smoothed by years of soothing tides

radiating suns warm rays

inside I’d place the lulling

sound of gentle lapping waves

a glowing orb of peace and calm

an antidote to all things bland

a landscape that fits in your hand

to carry in your pocket.

I love this! I carry such a stone, washed up to the beach, just a piece of a much larger shell but soft, well worn, smooth, and full of life, and promise, and magic somewhere. I have had it in my pocket for many years now. And I give such stones, as offers of hope, encouragement, friendship, and love. What a great write, April! Thank you for sharing this with me.

How sweet, and meaningful. I thought I might have been the only person who prized such gifts. I still carry a pretty stone my youngest son gave me when he was little. It was a mighty gift!

Makes me wonder how many such gifts are dismissed when given. Makes me think the world somewhat sad with the value we put on materialistic things all the while missing the ones of true value. Well, now I'm off the the shore to find a pebble of my own!

Great job.

This is the most beautiful thing that I have read in quite some time. Your imagery is brilliant and I am beyond jealous.

I simply adore the way you presented the meaning of such a tiny pebble, along with the gorgeous senses and even the unintentional rhyme to complete it. Keep writing, because this shows your talent reaches far and begs to be practiced and released. I look forward to another poem from you! :)

The best gifts I have recieved in my life were all small and well thought out gifts. Yes they all came from women and they all touched my heart a little too deeply. It's hard when you recieve a truly thougtful gift that is so simple and yet so perfect, it just crushes me and I never know how to respond besides the look of being blown away across my face. Good write!

Oh i loved this.... just like the penquin who gives his mate a pebble as a gift,... something so simple that means so much, every time the pebble is lokked at or just felt in the pocket will bring memories to the mind.

quite enchanting
