Fill Me

Fill Me

A Poem by April Child

You fill me to

overflowing

with words

so delicately

haunting they

spill from my eyes

diamond droplets

falling, sliding

over my lips

tasting like

the sun itself

exploding on

my tongue a

myriad colour

fountain

mellifluously

raining

down my throat

to my stomach

where sun rises

warm and glowing

your words

inside me.

The visual structure of this poem is like a glass, overflowing with the love you have of words, of poetry, of love and I can't help but smile feeling I'm in the presence of the jeweled heart of a poet spilling forth her soul upon page, shared like wine at dinner, warming our bellies and tickling our imaginations with language sublime, melted and molded in the hearth of eternal joy. Wow. I just want to drink these words and have them become a part of me, educating me, warming me, filling me with peace and joy and love.

mmmmm. liquid. this is so amazingly good. i've missed writer'scafe.

this poem rocks just for using "mellifluously" without coming off as academic or show-offy. it all works.

i love how you effortlessly connect words, love, tears, and sun together. how the cycles feed into themselves no matter how they manifest next.

second poem on my read list that deals with cycles. interesting. maybe god is messaging me.

i love love love the end on this. april you are a genius.

The reader can almost taste the words in this. I'm a little unsure about two adverbs in one short poem but you do create a wonderful mood and it flows like warm honey. Yum.
