Neath The Willow Tree

Neath The Willow Tree

A Poem by April Child
"

Inspired by Murphy's willow tree. A beautiful place to sit and ponder....

"

Come go with me

neath the willow tree

that exists only in our minds

let us rest and share

some quiet there

while we sit and wonder and ponder

spring

Its leafy fronds

we gaze upon

as they blossom in front of our eyes

exquisite blooms

exuding perfume

and showering us in petals

summer

summer’s heat

leaves us deplete

droplets of sweat are forming

tracing our spines

dripping onto the vines

tree shades us and we quench its thirst

autumn

chiller winds come

with the autumn

tree whispers and sways in rhythm

leaves shed one by one

falling first then are flung

dance their last in the fall samba

winter

In winter we’re clothed

with blankets of snow

as we huddle in hibernation

crushed diamonds twinkle

tree branches sprinkle

snowflakes moonlit like glitter

and here is Murphy's response....

I am used to Bangladeshi six seasons.
You have introduced me to your four seasons like a great teacher in a poetic way.
Best wishes,
Zainul

What beautiful images. The Willow Tree is amazing and I get lost thinking about old days underneath with your descriptive and well written poem.

A lovely way to mark the seasons hand in hand. The image of the willow works very well.
