Grow Old DisgracefullyA Poem by April ChildWe are all ageing. Can't change it, might as well have fun with it!I hope I grow old disgracefully sitting on a young man’s knee I want to dance upon the table and wear high heels long as I’m able when I fancy and have the whim I’ll throw my arms up high and sing Instead of shopping in the supermarket I’ll be riding the trolley and wearing the basket when tired I’ll lay down in the aisle til you approach then I’ll leap up and smile put my face in yours and shout ‘Boo’ then run the hell away from you Eavesdropping on conversations I’ll linger interrupting only to say “Pull my finger” at funerals I’ll poke folks in the chest and with a glint in my eye say “You’re next” oh I can’t wait to misbehave my way into a ripe old age. © 2010 April ChildFeatured Review
