Laid my eyes on you

Laid my eyes on you

A Poem by ajelly
"

That term has been on my mind. I thought of inadvertently falling in love a thousand times at least with you to think of it that way. The power of attraction even in most inappropriate circumstances.

"
He said

"Since I laid my eyes on you."

My, my.
how that saying affects the soul.

Mind you, not meant that way.
Not reciprocated or love indicated

Overtly, anyhow
I tell myself
in this instance.

He is my hiring manager.
Telling me he has confidence.
In me, it left an impression.

Me too. No biggy.
No big surprises.
I keep to my surmises.
My promises and never cave.

I never gave anything away.
Disgust, perhaps.
At the situation, not
Self pity, nothing to blame
And, my feelings unexplained
I said strong words
I felt powerful.
He said i got him fired up.

Im stronger than that.
Stronger.
A while longer.
Stronger, than she thought.

Its done.
Its over.
Relief.
Nothing lost.
Not much paid.

I walked away.
Its not best.
I felt powerful though.
I liked that.
