Life

Life

A Poem by Emily Donovan

I sit beside my window and begin to wonder,
what is life?
Life can be anything! Says the imaginary reply.
But surely there must be a reason why?
We are put through hard times, put through good times,
and forced to figure out, what to do when something happens that,
makes you want to scream, or cry, or smile, or pout.
When something makes you want to ask, why is life so mean?
I'm sorry but I can't answer that question…yet.
But I will tell you that even though it seems,
that you are the only one going through hard times,
look around you…every face you see has either, been through hard times,
is going through hard times or is soon to be going through hard times.
So the next time you sit by your window,
do not sigh, because even though you do not know the reason why,
you know you aren't the only one.
And now do not sigh, but smile,
because you will get through the hard times.
So smile,
and live without question.
