My Queen

My Queen

A Poem by Appassionata
"

A rather sad love poem inspired by an Egyptian myth. For the brokenhearted.

"
Through crunch of bones and honey of lies
And blood-spattered screams born of exhilaration of vice
Your hands are warm as the rays of dawn
To melt this heart as cold as ice

With your eyes that lead to ocean depths
And the pillow of your rustling breath
You're the only smile in this world of hate
As you pull me back from worse than death

We loved until even time fades
And I could die in this vision of grace
I can be King, command all land
But what commands me is the sight of your face

But why, why did everything treasured crumble to dust?

When it all collapsed I stand in a daze
Denial and rage crashed in screaming waves
The ice seeps back to heart and bone
And what's the point of living, when our glory is nothing but stone?

Screaming unheard in your chains, who is there to blame?
As you flee and hide - have you no shame?
But even ripped to pieces by your hands I come to realize
That in darkness and shadows I'll always whisper your name

From far I can see your raven locks gleam
In the golden paradise of rising new dawn
(And I want you to know...)
That even though I'm far from a throne
You will forever be my queen.
