Chapter 7

A Chapter by Whitney Shaw

As Lone Wolf stormed out of the hotel he jumped on his horse and rode to the woods and got off his horse and sat down on a rock he was in an opened area trees on both sides. He looked up at the clear skies and saw an Eagle.
"You’re lucky to be free, nobody can take your home, they can't change you, but to be a two legged they can change you, they can take everything, your home, your land, your children, your wives, your language, and your way of life. You are lucky Eagle," said Lone Wolf.
Lone Wolf got up and turned and saw a "tsetsoye" (bear) in Apache language. Lone Wolf slowly walked towards it and sat down. The bear walked towards Lone Wolf and sat down, he thought that was very strange.
"Lone Wolf "anosoptan, an petukin" (listen, the day) in Lakota language. Is not over, I am your "cola" (friend) in Lakota language. Why are you so hard on the boy, do not hurt him like you almost did Henry," said Red Bear in the Lakota language.
"How did you know that," asked Lone Wolf?
"Henry told me the "kapi" (story) in Lakota language. When we saved you from that fort, let him be somebody, he admires you and hopes to learn something from you," said Red Bear.
"I can't, I just feel different around him, when he is near me I want to bash his head in," said Lone Wolf.
"Your native instincts are coming back, you’re not moving forward only backwards towards the past. You need to forget about the past, times are changing, and there is nothing you or Henry can do about it. Give it time, you will see things change and get better, just give it time," said Red Bear.
"What if something happens to the boy, I'm not going to be responsible if he can't keep up, I am older and wiser than he is, he looks like he could be my son or brother," said Lone Wolf.
"Patience Lone Wolf, it will get better you'll see," said Red Bear turning around.
"Wait, when will it get better," asked Lone Wolf?
"You will see," said Red Bear turning around and heading deep into the forest.
Lone Wolf turned around and faced his horse and then jumped on it and rode back to Frankie's house, it was dark and everybody was in bed. Lone Wolf went to the barn and put his horse up, he heard somebody walking so he quickly turned and it was Henry.
"Lone Wolf," said Henry.
"Henry," said Lone Wolf.
"Where you been its late," asked Henry?
"Near the mountains," said Lone Wolf.
"What did you find," asked Henry smiling?
"Why are you smiling like that," asked Lone Wolf?
"You found something didn't ya," asked Henry?
"Yes," said Lone Wolf.
"Good," said Henry.
"I don't know, I was fine on my own and now I am being.....
"A bad Indian boy who is going on the war path again," said Henry.
"Yes," said Lone Wolf.
"Come on let go inside," said Henry.
So they walked inside and Henry gave him something to eat and ate. Then they started talking and finally cleaned up their mess and went upstairs to bed. Lone Wolf laid down in his bed and looked out the window and back at Josh. He got out of bed and put one of Red Bears pistol on top of the pillow next to him.
