The Fading of Colors

The Fading of Colors

A Poem by TamiViolet
"

inspired during one of my sleepless nights

"

I once heard someone say that 'love humiliates and hatred cradles,' and my
heart sometimes begs for release, for many times I have loved so deeply,
so profoundly only to discover myself flying with butterfly wings

through the pounding rain.

Where are you, my love?

My blue jeans have faded to white, revealing patches of skin, abrasive from
falling so many times and bruising

my SOUL.

Where is the happily ever after that my mother promised me as a child?

Where is that big, strong man who would be waiting...

just for me?

So once again I close my blinds to avoid the arrogance of the sun and view
the withered leaves that surround my feet.  As the tears trickle down my
swollen cheeks and onto this paper, I breathe deeply, gathering the gloom
and wallowing in another day of useless energy, waltzing from too much
wine because life doesn't hurt as much...

at least for the moment.

I drift into repose and awaken with a fluttering heart...gasping for air, and
I know that there is nothing diabolical about me.  I lack the capacity for
hatred and although the color has been removed from my sight...

I know...

It's just around the corner...

How well you capture the ache and frustration of failed love. I thought the form of this writing was interesting - a kind of meditation... The image of the jeans worked well and the photos were a pleasing enhancement to the cri de coeur carried in the words

Similar to "The one" poem i wrote, but much more ellaborate and deep. I love this one Apollino. One of my favorites you have written, and in general one I love very much. I feel the same way; empty, searching for mr. right, my prince charming....this piece is a breathe of fresh air. thank you for sharing.

I always enjoy the raw emotion of your pieces, Apollonia. Beautifully written, though a bit sad. I'm sure you will one day have your happily ever after, through a lifetime of searching. They say there is someone for everyone...but who knows.

Great Write.

This is deeply profound with emotion, and your metaphors that paint each picture are perfect. Superb.

This is the most mournful and longing piece I have ever read. One can actually feel the loneliness of the character and it brings the gray upon the reader. Hopefully the color will return soon. Great write. Bravo! Going in favorites.

WOW. That's about the only word to describe this poem. The heaviness of it all and the emotion. This is definitely going into my favorites. Great write.
