I sat across the room from you,
Watching you take that first bite of pie.
Wondering if you were alone, wondering why you looked blue,
Why were you alone, why did you sigh?
You had this beauty about you that captured my heart,
I was the board, and you were my dart.
You looked my way but glanced past me,
I wondered what was on your mind, what did you see.
If I stood up and walked past you, would you care?
If I walked by you, would you notice me stare?
Finally we locked eyes,
I wanted to kiss you and stop your cries.
Although there was but one candle on that one table,
I had but one soul that was willing and able.
To give you the world and all its glory,
Just like an old fashion fairy tale story.
Would you have me, is the question of the night,
Can I love you and make everything all right?
