Harakiri

Harakiri

A Poem by Aphitenza
"

"Ritual suicide by disembowelment with a sword, formerly practised in Japan by samurai as an honuorable alternative to disgrace or execution."

"
By seppuku I regain my honour
By seppuku I regain my pride
For a man lives his life for others
Thus bushido bids me to do so

I have clothed my self in silk
So that my blood runs down
And pools at the feet of my people
Giving them back what they deserve
That crimson lake that carries my sins and sorrow

I have quenched my thirst for dishonour
And filled my stomach
To rid me of my fatal famine

My death cloth calls upon me
Spearing no time to do what is right

My words pour on paper
Holding my final thoughts
Before I draw my noble sword

At last

So here I am where I die
My friends, speak no more of me and my odious ways
As by death I am reborn
And reincarnate as an honourable and worthy man.
