Flowers

Flowers

A Poem by Aphinion
"

A sonnet I wrote about love, flowers, and how people killing flowers doesn't strike me as romantic. I had to write an accompanying narrative about this poem, which I might publish later.

"
To show my love, I brought you a flower
With soft fading petals in vibrant blue
Its beauty stood out when I passed last hour
So I plucked it up and brought it to you

How strange it is, to give flowers for love
Though I find their beauty quite appealing
Is it not the same as smiting a dove
Or a dog over one simple feeling?

Why did I pull this sweet plant from the ground?
Life serves it better than death in a vase
May I think of this loss next time love bounds
May I never again harm nature's grace

Though roses are red, this flower is blue
It's dead, I killed it to say "I love you"
