Theme For English B

A Poem by Aphinion
"

In 11th grade I had to write a poem about myself, so I wrote this.

"

Of all things to write of in the land,

Myself is one I cannot stand.

What do I write?

How much do I say?

What can I reveal without

Giving too much away?

If I say too much

I'm an open book.

You'd know my soul

With just one look.

If I say too little,

This poem isn't me.

My inner self,

Yet to be free.

But honestly speaking,

Do I need to speak true?

How will you really know

When I write this to you?

Surely you know the basics:

My name and my age.

But the entirety of me

Would not fit on a page.

There are simple things I like,

Such as gymnastics and art.

Yet this surface of me,

Needs not take part.

There are people in my life,

Who have importance too.

But what sort of meaning

Would this have for you?

So really I can say,

Conscience clear,

What expresses me most

Is this paper right here.

Every sentence,

Down to the word,

Holds who I am

And what I've heard.

While truth in this paper

May seemingly grow,

How could you possibly,

Ever know?
