Between Never and AlwaysA Poem by ApebbleShe’s who I need to Fall back to sleep, When the world closes in And the lights all fade She’s everything to me, Every breath, every beat. My life, my one and only. I refuse to accept this fate. Stuck between never and always, Hoping for a dream to seize. Too afraid to grasp it in my palms, As if my zeal will cause it to break. But each moment I wait, Every moment I crawl toward the goal, She’s slipping far, far away. I’ve spent all the words one can say. Exhausting each phrase, Each permutation of stylistic prose. Performing a dance of words, But it mattering not to her. She is above my mere letters. Untouchable, unattainable. Stuck between never and always And I too indecisive to make the difference For after my diction is exhausted, Poetry uttered and dismissed- I have no more to offer than a need A bleeding need for her Cause she’s all I need to, Fall back to sleep. When life slips underneath, And I fade between never and always. © 2015 Apebble |
