She Left UsA Poem by AparajitaWhen she died, it was as if a piece of our hearts died with her. This poem is my effort to put back those shattered pieces even though I know nothing will ever change. It will be an year since she left us.
She left us like fragrance leaves a flower; Like salt leaves the sea; Like rain leaves a cloud; Like green leaves the tree; Like wind leaves the storm; Like time leaves a clock; Like ember leaves fire; Like a body soul-free. Like torn pages of a diary; Like mouths without a word; Like ears without music; Like a blind with colours; Like skin loses touch. No indication, no warning, no last goodbyes. She could have just waited, Waited for that final song, Waited for that special kiss, Waited for that comforting hug, But she never looked back. Today she is a wandering soul; Dancing in the reverie of the moving winds, Singing in the sweet songs that bees hum over flowers, Laughing at the twinkling mischief of the stars. Beaming at the moon and the sun, Crying at our grief of having lost her. She cries; Ah! The rain, her silent tears. The tears of regret of what could have been, The tears of pain her loved ones endure. She is no more; Still the birds chirp, night changes into day. Still the thunder roars, clouds covers the sky. Still the sun shines, the earth moves Still we smile, the pain fades. She smiles; Because she is in a better place. Where miracles happen, Where clouds are her castle, Where winds are her comrades, Where mortals find peace. And we? We feel hope in pain We find white in black We crumble and rebuild We see rainbows in rain We stumble upon happiness, our lives lack. She found serenity while we are abandoned forever striving to find her. Dedicated to the sweet person we all lost on February 1, 2015. The most painful part is when we realize that the parents will outlive their daughter. She was like a sister to me. We all grew up together. I guess, I still cannot accept the fact that she is no more. She was only 19 and did not deserve to die so soon. I think you are finally happy. We all miss you. © 2016 AparajitaAuthor's Note
