Chapter 5 - Nightmare

A Chapter by Brandon Favors

"Takuutoooo..." a ghastly voice echoed…

Takuto’s eyes flew open, finding that he was no longer in his bedroom. He could feel the prickly feeling of grass and the sound of a breeze blowing past his ears. When he looked around, he was in a place he didn't recognize. He was in a darkened area, everything being grim and black. Takuto saw strange creatures flying through the sky; he heard hisses and growls coming from all around him. Frightened, he looked around hastily. He didn't know where he was or how he got there. More importantly, he had no idea of what to do.

"Takutoooo..."

The ghastly voice echoed again. Turning his head, he saw a figure drifting towards him. It had on a black cloak that surrounded its entire body. Two glowing red eyes were seen from under the hood.

"Who...Who are you?" Takuto asked.

"Come..."

Takuto felt himself rising from the ground and walking towards the figure. He had no control over his body, like something had possessed him. When he was five feet away from the figure, something broke through the ground into the sky. Takuto fell onto his back and looked up at the thing. It looked down at him and growled, black saliva dripping from its mouth. Takuto turned and scrambled across the ground, once again in control of his body, standing up and attempting to sprint away. In front of him, another creature emerged from the earth. Caught right next to it, Takuto was sent flying through the air and he slammed into a boulder.

"Tch...This can't be happening..." he cried.

"Takutoooo..."

He saw the figure floating a few feet away from him, beckoning to him. To the right and left of the figure the two creatures stood as tall as flagpoles.

"Enter the darkness..."

The figure pointed a cloaked hand at Takuto and the creatures lunged at him. Takuto let out a shrill scream and covered his face, preparing for the end. Suddenly, the dark world melted away and he was sitting upright in his bed. He was breathing heavily, heart rate abnormal.

"Just...A dream..." Takuto sighed with relief and lazed back down. "A dream..." Checking the clock, he saw it was nearly 4 in the morning, so he drew the covers over his chin and closed his eyes; but this time, he was afraid to go to sleep.
