Never Fades

A Story by Aoife Kelly
"

Just a short passage prompted by a song. Trying to ease myself into this.Any feedback will be appriciated.

That night never faded.the music was so loud it droned just below my isolation. Alone in a crowd, my life story. It had all been dull, copeing, shuffling, in the way and just waiting for the booze to buzz me out of my sad little mind. Then I saw him and I was gone burn free.

It wasn't just the star burst smile or eyes like big chocolate lakes. It wasn't even that preened jet black crown of hair. It warm memories blooming in my bones. He was 5 and making dinosaur noises outside my bedroom window because knocking was boring. He was 10 and building monster traps for the thing no one else believed I saw. He was 15 and playing guitar at the edge of my bed just because. That night he was 20 making me smile and laugh like no one could and I realised I loved him.
I still love him now of-corse. Even though I wish it would fade. Turns out the burn was just catching up to me. At least the bruises fade.
