Patton MuseumA Chapter by AnthonyReportThe Patton Museum of Calvary and Armor was established in 1949 to preserve artifacts and archival materials. It is one of the world’s largest and most diverse collections of armored vehicles from 1917 to present. It also has the finest Patton artifacts in the world. The collection includes his trademark ivory gripped Colt pistol and Cadillac staff car. It is administered by the US Armor Center, Fort Knox, Kentucky. The museum has a variety of exhibits. Some of the themes are as follows: The Tank Corps: World War I, Between the Wars: Mechanized Cavalry, The Armored Force: World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Cold War, Bosnia/Kosovo, Desert Shield/Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and General George S. Patton, Jr. Within each of the exhibits is a range of displays. The displays range from dioramas, weapons, clothing, and full scale vehicles.© 2010 Anthony |
