Happiness in the due dates

Running after due dates,

Mingling in the updates,

Definition of every emotion has changed,

Successfully filling a return has started giving more elation,

Fulfilling a compliance before the due date gives more jubilation,

Learning new amendment gives a sense of exultation,

Understanding a new update has taken over understanding the people,

Hunger to fulfill a compliance has taken over the hunger for food,

Confined in the mind full of income tax, gst and companies act updates,

Happiness is about fulfilling all the compliances before due dates.

I am outdated, and inundated with dates...they move too fast, months move too fast.
Bills get paid, the news has updates of what is happening around me in the world.
we are all fated to be dated and bludgeoned with the idea of compliance.
We want to think we are free...but are we? When happiness is compliance?
I don't know, but this poem is quite smart in its repetition, and clever rhyme scheme...
it's a thinker for sure.
