MaskA Poem by Anuradha VermaThis piece is about hiding one's true thoughts and personality from others, as all of us have so often done.
Spun,
from the fine silk of lies; my savior and what holds me back, the curtain that separates me, from the world. Can you see what lies behind? Ornamented with crocodile tears, and smiles that never reach the eyes, it conceals true intent; the darkness within. Can you see it thrive inside? Through it, I can see how sick it all is. Using it, I can cover up my sins; pretend to be above this filth, revealing only what I desire. My mask. If I showed it to you; if I ripped it off, leaving it all bare, to be used as you see fit, would you see what lies behind?
