Fallen Angels

Fallen Angels

A Poem by Anuradha

I wish life was a fairytale,
cause if that would have been it,
then you would have been with me.
My angel, the guardian angel.
Or are you not?

Never knew that you would be it.
I was mistaken,
as to who my angel was.
I looked at him and always thought
it has to be my angel.
Hardly aware that some other angel beckoned me.

Even you were there
following the lights of your own fairy.
You as the boy who never grew up,
and she was your very own 'tinkerbell'.

But then you entered in my life,
there was no light around you.
No pearly angelic sheen.
But I knew you were special.
You made me laugh.
You made me happy.
You made me be myself.

Hardly aware that even angels
can come without prior messages by a messenger.
An angel is not supposed to shine but make other shine.
You had made me realize, you made me see,
that all through those times,
I had been considering the wrong person as the 'right angel'.
And you, the one I had never imagined to be the right one
turned out to be the 'right angel'.
I laughed-
sometimes perfect person turned out to be wrong
and the wrong turned out to be right.

I knew I had found my guardian angel,
but my angel had an angel too.
I realized at the end of the day,
I wanted my angel to be happy.
My angel to be with his fairy.
Even if that fairy left you with broken wings,
I want you to fly again.
Fly with the new angel who enters your life.
Who can mend you broken heart,
heal your wounded wings.

As I stand and keep looking at your smiling face,
I will be happy.
Maybe you cannot be my 'guardian angel'
but I could proudly say-
at least I was able to be the fairy with the magic wand,
who could transform your life into a shining fairytale.
I wish you will be always know,
that I will always be there for you.
As the 'Fallen Angel.'
