Identities (one, two and three)

Identities (one, two and three)

A Poem by Antonionioni
"

What it says.

"

1.

identity is me

why am I me

what is me

why does it feel like this ‘me’

is trapped in this body given to me

when this body is me

2.

identity is this body

identity is this skin you can see

identity is whatever you see

whatever your mind does with this ‘me’

that only you see

which is ‘me’ to you, clearly

3.

identity is society

so sorry you’re not pretty

say sorry if you’re a fatty

you’re not fit, you look unfit to me

you’re unfit to be

sitting in my company

Yes. I have found that physical appearance is often at complete variance with who a person 'is'.
It is an unfortunate practice many have of Judging others completely on appearance.
Now, I suppose that there are those who, because of the way they present themselves, draw a lot of comment and so forth, but that is also a personal issue.
Just because a person is not looking or smelling their best, does not mean that they are not in touch with the 'real world'.
I often fly a 'stupid flag' just to see what reactions I get.........therefore, I identify. I think?
