I <3 NYA Poem by Antonio Chevereold pieceCookie crums and coffee stains water spots on the window pains a cool breeze blows thru the door footsteps tap on the checkerd, tiled floor the sun hugs the shadows tighter throughout the day until the light becomes a warm blanket were children can play the trees dance with joy in the new spring air streching there branches so there beauty can be shared Brrr Brrr Peigons strech there wings and peck at the bread tossed on the ground by an old ladie who sings and old men play chess in the park wearing caddy hats and sweater vest Drivers in traffic honk and shout GPS's recalculating the route to work so your schedule's a little off beat but its ok cause you have a little bit of coffee there's a bodega at the end of any street where they sell lotto tickets and that coffee is light and sweet they sell fruits and vegie's like apples and tomatos kids dump change on the counter for a pack of now and laters and at night the street lights make an orange glow on a chain linked fence that can balance snow in the winter where every holiday involves dinner and family although people think this place is cold hearted and mean and to tell the truth it makes its own residents want to scream but it makes them tough and proud and maybe thats why they talk so loud but when the talk conversations are never short and all of these things are just some reasons why I LOVE NEW YORK © 2011 Antonio Chevere |
