Star crossed

Star crossed

A Poem by Antifranticbabydoll

Beneath a sky of endless night, Two souls entwined,

a fleeting light. Their love, a flame,

pure and bright, Consumed by fate,

 lost to the night.

Star-crossed lovers, doomed to part,

 Their hearts forever torn apart.

A tragic tale, a work of art,

A love so pure, a love so smart.

They yearned for each other,

day and night, Their love a beacon,

shining bright. But cruel destiny,

with all its might, Extinguished their love,

 plunged them in night.

Now echoes of their love remain,

A haunting melody, a bittersweet pain.

Their story etched, forever stained,

A love lost, a love in vain.

the rhymes really work and keeps the reader engaged. and i can certainly relate to the Romeo and Juliet in this story. describing that love as a flame is a fitting metaphor. it burns hot but it burns out fast.
