AgitationA Poem by AntifranticbabydollA take on sobriety in the real world view point.A stiff drink, a hangover later. For I want nothing more than to have a drink. But drinking will have me in a whirl. Whirling around in a decorative dance. A dance I cannot escape. Drinking isn't for me, but it wants me. We all deal with our demons at one point or another. My demon wants nothing more than to tear me down. I want it to tear me down, but do I really want that? Humble words from my peers and sponsor. Hurtful words of honesty. Helpful words of honesty. Easy does it, one day at a time. Keep coming back. Though I long for the numbness to forget, Forgetting isn't what it plays up to be. Don't forget, you remember in full. The pain it's caused, the hurt you put yourself through and others through. Hold on tight, for the road ahead is long and rocky, the path is narrow. So make it wide. Ride this wave with honesty and courage and you will recover. Easy does it. One day at a time.
Keep coming back. It does work, if you work it. © 2024 AntifranticbabydollAuthor's Note
