Sombernesses

Sombernesses

A Poem by AnthonyTodd
"

Expressions on a dreary day.

"

A canvass of grey drapes across the day sky.

Dark barren trees desperately reach upward;

Pulling the hazy covering over their branches like a dreary blanket.

A mist fills the cold still air, silencing bird and beast.

The window gives gloom passage to the dark room.

The eyes give gloom passage to the lonely soul.

Memories of soft candles, sweet wine, beautiful food, and loving laughter travel onward;

Beckoning the still shadows of quiet melancholy to come inside.

Hope sits in darkness on the other side of the room…whispering.

Longings for yesterdays and wishes for tomorrows play softly their music.

Steaming Earl Grey dances slowly to the sounds; its taste intoxicates.

Strange Magic.

This even sounds like a rainy day :) I like how well you tie in pictures of grey in this one
