We all need an attitude adjustment at times.

Dear God…

Why Me?

…Why should I suffer so?

…Why do I not have the things I so deserve?

…Why do I not have the numerous friends who deserve me?

…Why have I waited so long to experience the love others have known for a lifetime?

…Why do I not get to enjoy all the pleasures of life that others do?

…Why do I not have the amazing career that would let me do the great things?

…Why do I struggle so with all these aches and pains and challenges in this life?

…Why Me?

 

My beloved son…

Why you?

…Consider things you cannot see.

…Consider things you will never know.

…Consider stations in life you will never inhabit.

…Consider, for once, the grace of your God.

 

Oh Gracious Father…

Why Me?

…Why should I be above any suffering in this life?

So many others suffer in ways I could never comprehend and still they smile.

…Why should I be blessed to have anything in this world?

So many others have nothing, and yet still see themselves as the richest of the rich.

…Why should I have anyone love me whatsoever?

So many others have been more friendly to me than I have ever been to them.

…Why should I know love at all?

So many others will live an entire lifetime without someone to love them, yet they love others.

…Why should I enjoy so much of this amazing world in which I live?

So many other lead lives of loneliness, grief, and despair with no hope at all, yet still fully live.

…Why should I be so lucky to any means at all to meet my financial needs?

So many others dream in vain of a chance to make their own way in this world, yet covet nothing.

…Why shouldn’t I struggle in so many more ways than I do to experience this life?

So many others will lose, or have already lost, what lives they had.

…Why Me?...Why NOT Me?
