Worth The Wait

 

We were just kids when we first met �" at least it feels so today.

Two kids from opposite ends of the earth, it seemed.

Two very different backgrounds; two very unique life stories.

But we gravitated to one another like nothing either of us had known.

I prayed our feelings would grow into a beautiful and enduring relationship.

I just felt that if it was to be…you would be worth the wait.

 

The more time we spent together, the more my feelings deepened for you.

Without a doubt, there was something special and unique in what we had.

There were so many circumstances that overshadowed our lives and our relationship.

There were many hurdles to overcome and many milestones to accomplish.

It would take some time and hard work to make dreams come true.

And yet it was very clear to me…you were definitely worth the wait!

 

But sometimes what we dream doesn’t always become our reality.

We can’t always understand why; in fact, we seldom do.

The situations and forces in our lives overwhelmed our ideas.

Our plans weren’t to survive the cruel waves and winds of life.

We were left stranded like refugees; lost, without direction, and in shock.

In the midst of the chaos we forgot…we would’ve been worth the wait.

 

We didn’t recover that lost dream in our youth �" and time never stands still.

We found ourselves moving to different beats.

We did the best we could to pick up the pieces, chart new courses, find new horizons.

Along the way God blessed us both, despite the emptiness that sometimes prevailed.

And even if we never knew it, He did. Though we wondered, He never did.

Does God ever restore lost dreams?…If so, would it still be worth the wait?

 

Now we stand at the beginning of a brand new adventure together.

One we never dreamed possible…not even in a million years!

Love once lost has been found, rekindled, and shines bright and beautiful as ever.

Still there are those pesky problems �" hurdles �" always challenging our patience.

But we are resolved and determined that they will not prevail against us.

We will be together again…and you are so worth the wait!

 

The day will come when we look back…our lives seasoned with wisdom and joy.

We’ll share our story with our children and our grandchildren.

We will tell them that God’s plans are always perfect, despite the circumstances of life.

We will tell them to hold fast to those dreams God plants in our hearts.

We will tell of the value of not giving up, lest, they too, lose precious time.

We will tell them original love is the best love…and is worth the wait.
