SailsA Poem by AnthonyToddShe returns to my harbor from the seas of my past. A ship; the finest of the fleet. Her beauty graces the waters, an image to last. Destiny ordained us to meet. Her sails are brilliant, lit up by the sun; Clean and pure as its light. They capture the wind and flow, every one. I’m compelled to gaze at this sight. Her lines are so smooth, her curves are an art. She’s sleek and fast as a ray. She moves and flows to capture my heart. I pray she drops anchor to stay. But no harbor’s a home; she’s meant for the sea To journey, explore, and see all. I cannot contain her; for her spirit is free. She pledges no other port of call. So I urge her to sail, and to conquer each wave In blue skies or in stormy gales. But I will go with her, for my life does she save And together, we’ll write many tales. Of tempests and sunsets. Of maps, and of charts. Of passions that surpass any strife. We’ll write each one in the book of our hearts. For together, we’ll voyage through this life. © 2014 AnthonyTodd |
