Mother, FatherA Poem by AAmellSomeday, our Mother and Father will not exist in the world we live in.A subtle gasp and then awake, Up in bed before the quake. A tremor running up your spine, It hits your head and now you’re
blind. Water falling from your eyes, But does not take you by surprise. It’s been like this since they
passed, Your life was lived so very fast. You hardly took the time to
learn, Your heart does burn and now you
yearn To know the lives of those you
knew The ones who taught to tie a shoe The ones who held you when you
cried The ones you cried for when they
died, The ones who saw you walk your
first The ones whom you upon they
nursed, The ones whose kiss could heal
all wounds, And now the dreadful hurt
consumes. Your face upon your hands does
rest, And now you face the hardest
test. To realize now what you’ve
denied, Emotions and cold facts collide. The ones you called Mother and
Father Forevermore will never bother. The memories like gold and
laughter, Are all you have from this hereafter. Their eyes upon your lips have
kissed Now, in this world, they no
longer exist. The ones you knew as Mom and Dad, Are only memories forever after, The regret inside you feels like
cancer. You should’ve spent a minute more And not treated them like such a
chore. You should’ve spent a minute more… If only you had… If only you had… © 2018 AAmellAuthor's Note
