Blind Brothers

Blind Brothers

A Poem by AAmell
"

Limerick about our political climate

"

There once was a man from Dubai,

Who walked with his big head held high,

He chastised his rivals

And stuck to his bibles,

And went on believing the lies.

This man from Dubai was quite smart,

Was lead through his life by his heart,

But he saw the divide

Said to hell with his pride

And see past the lines he did start.

The man saw the other side’s news,

And all they decided to choose,

To cover that day

And the man yelled “Hey!”

And chalked it all up to a ruse.

But the closer he looked at his own,

And unbiasedly analyzed their tone,

It all came to light

That what’s wrong and what’s right

Depends on where the seed is sown.

And here he sits wise and aware,

A state that is really quite rare,

One side claims false news

The other a lit fuse,

Both blind to the sin

That they’re actually akin,

In their claims to the facts

Of any series of acts,

Their opinions they piddle

While their brain cells diddle,

A fanatic of one

Is a thinker of none,

And this bias he does not share.

Author's Note

AAmell
It just amazes me how each side claims the other is lying, yet these people only ever listen to their own side. One must laboriously sift through both sides and make an assertion for themselves. To only receive information from one side is the definition of biased, and results in drone-like division.
