Ode to A Moment

Ode to A Moment

A Poem by AAmell
"

Sitting in my room, drinking seventy dollar rum, and I wonder if I'll remember this moment when it passes.

"
A moment
Is just that.
It is now,
Not anymore.
No longer here,
Now gone.
The burn of the rum,
Aching feet
Do it all again tomorrow
Wonder when it ends.
Pause in the moment of stillness,
Drink the rum.
The burn is a flash
Here, then gone.
When does it end,
This moment

Author's Note

AAmell
I purposely leave out a question mark at the end so that it is up to the reader whether to read it as, "When does it end?"; the answer being "This moment." Or they can can read it as "When does it end, this moment?"

Short and concise. The topic necessitates a short poem and I like that you emphasize that in your writing. I would trail off at this moment…. to reflect the fleeting nature of a moment.
