The art of Renewal

The art of Renewal

A Poem by Aarti Sriram

The art of Renewal

You stand strong O’ deciduous trees

Come autumn  your cloak falls and freeze

No leaves no flowers yet you don’t care

You seem complete, strongly rooted there

Teach me too to shed my hurt and pain

Help me let go of anger and strain

In winter, you shed to save your energy,

I too wish to conserve my light and melody

Not waste my breath on shout or cry,

Like you I’ll learn to quieten and try

Longing to rebuild what is left behind

Unlike you, I fear, renewing my mind

To learn from you to wait for springs embrace
To time out and nourish myself with grace

To rise again calm and soulful

Teach me the art of your renewal

Renewal a constant theme of nature some in a season some like the cicada years long. Your choice of a tree seems emblematic of a renal that exhibits strength while waiting and very appropriate to our needs not desiring immediate refreshing that would include a mind renewal that includes the lose of cherished memories. - great read - carl

"This poem is a reminder that we can learn from everything if we take the time to observe. Sometimes, I just hold my cup and embrace the silence—it feels so peaceful, as if time itself pauses for a moment." Nicely capturing the all the emotion, a tree holds. Enjoyed reading

We can learn so much from trees. Beautifully penned dear Aarti. Wonderful couplets, and the third one lingers especially. Lovely poetry.

Thankyou dear Chris for your kind review and sharing your thoughts.
A most enjoyable write. How resilient are trees especially those large redwood trees in Yosemite national park. But all trees in general such beauty and importance in supporting life.

Nice meeting you @Fia ! Thankyou for your supportive review dear.
A wonderful poem about renewal. The Luna moth shares the renewal of the trees in spring; emerging from her cocoon after the long winter has passed. And she needs those deciduous trees to survive. Oh, that we could all rest through the worries and the bad weather of life to emerge, new and transformed.

an observant eye watches nature and sees oneself. earth is a mother and a teacher and guides us through each step of our lives, and winter is a call for rest and recuperation.
To time out and nourish myself with grace
an amazing line that sums it up. that the fading of colours that happen this time of the year naturally leads us into restful slumber. there is beauty in it, as you have captured so eloquently in this verse.

You're welcome !
We could probably learn a lot from trees. They endure, despite conditions. They can't deal very well with developers, though.

If only we could renew ourselves and be as strong as the trees.
I really like this poem....I would replace the "u" with "you"---
text language in poetry tends to have the reader not take it as seriously as intended.
But overall, I really calming write.
