Winter BanterA Poem by Aarti Sriram
Winter Banter
Two ladies, off to have fun, not to the malls But window shopping through the local stalls Winter markets decked with lights and colour Eats, meats, sugary treats less than a dollar Hot stroopwaffels and yummy roasted nuts We sampled few, healthy or not for our guts Paintings vases decors for homes and garden Sweaters, dresses for babies oldies n for maiden We visited all the shops and liked so many Unsure if we needed to, we didn’t buy any Clicked selfies and requested for our photo We hung around walked free, with no motto We were hungry so went in to buy luncheon Breads soups and toasties warm to munch'n We came to see, to enjoy, not just to shop Not silly anymore buy all n spend till you drop She bought me a hat I wore, loved her Pro Bono We laughed shared and dismissed any ‘fomo’ It was a cold day, alone at home would have been a sombre But our walks and talks together made it so much warmer!! © 2024 Aarti SriramFeatured Review
