Soldiers die Nations cry!

Soldiers die Nations cry!

A Poem by Aarti Sriram

Soldiers die Nations cry

Please stop the wars  let danger and grief now cease

You’r in power for so brief, no signs of stability or peace

Cant bear to see drone  and our youngsters dead

Old in ventilators  alone hapless cannot break a bread.

Lets sort out differences, its not any rocket science

You make, only with intention to break new alliance

With state of the art arms and weapons in hand

Still insecure unjust barons where do we stand.

How much more can you relish the gain

How many more lives will we sacrifice in vain

A family a bundle of joy or single and  be merry

Read a book, dance a step travel take a ferry

When did you drift  from the brook’s joyous  bends

Cried alone Created a deadly army made no friends

We can still  give-in  may be your unborn can live

A better future  let kindness thrive and you  forgive

How hard it must be  to carry on such hate

Nations have fought to change our fate

But if we keep fighting, the loss will be great

Our Motherland suffers lives in a vegetative state

Enough show of power mind always hyper

It is destruction, cavalry or through cyber

You have brilliantly discovered now let others aspire

Enjoy your comforts -live and let live, not conspire

it is tragic how relevant this work is today. i was in myanmar during the coud d'etat, and i could not for the life of me understand this megalomania and villainy. war became inevitable, but i know, the youngsters fighting in the resistance would rather be somewhere else, enjoying books, being with their friends, eating with their family. as for the dictator, who is happy to coerce soldiers to die, i have no words...

A very insightful poem on the destruction of war, with excellent good advice given for living in peace. Soldiers fight for our freedom from the chains of captivity, but freedom is not free, there is a very big price to pay for it and so many of the soldiers pay with their lives. Nobody (those in power) want to sort out their differences by sitting down and talking and reaching agreement. The greed and lust for domination over countries which do not belong to them is too strong within them because there is no love for human beings and their rights, for other countries and their rights, just an insatiable greed to control. This has gone on since the world first began and I feel it will go on to the end, whenever that will be. As Hendrix said "When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace." - Jimi Hendrix. It is a wonderful saying and your poem is a wonderful poem which grips the reader's interest from the very title right to the final line in the poem, dear Aarti. Your poem carries a very powerful message. Thank you for sharing, dear poetess...

Nice rhyming and a heartfelt plea. Sadly, such entreaties have been raised for years, but still the wars continue.

Hello @ John the Baptist thankyou for reading and sharing your supportive thoughts.
A strong message on the impact of senseless,
condemning wars in a poetic way is brilliant, each stanza flows with the AABB rhyme scheme
